Current(I) = Voltage/Resistance

= 42/(10+ 4)

= 42/14

Current = 3 A

Answer:

i = 3 A

Step-by-step explanation:

When two or more resistances are connected in series then the total effective resistance is given as

R_(eq) = R_1 + R_2

now we have

R_(eq) = 10\: ohm + 4\: ohm

R_(eq) = 14\: ohm

now from ohm's law we know that

V = i R

here we know that

V = 42 volts

R = 14 ohm

now from above equation

42 = i * 14

i = 3 A
