A carpenter has a 6 foot long board. He wants to cut the board into pieces that are 4/5 foot long. What length of the original board will be left after the Carpenter has cut all the pieces that are 4/5 foot long?

If he wants to cut them into 4/5 long pieces, you would have to multiply 6 and 4/5.

6 ⋅ 4/5

Which can also be 6/1 ⋅ 4/5. 6 times 4 is 24.

24 is your numerator

5 times 1 is 5. 5 is your denominator.

Now all you have to do is simplify 24/5
