Approximately half of the people that live in Central America live in poverty. Why do you think that is and what is your opinion about what could be done to reduce the poverty in those countries? Why do some people have more money to spend than others?

Some of the reasons that Central America has such a huge number of people that live in poverty are:

- The history of oppresion suffered by many countries in Central America, that not until their independence could fully be able to find their individual independence and even when they did, a whole classist system was already set in place, making it harder for people to grow financially.

- The unequal distribution of wealth, which is also a reflect of the previous reason and mostly because Central America is dominated by agriculture, making other jobs scarce and leaving the population with no opportunities.

- Drug traffic and violence are very present in these countries, and in order to fight these things the government ends up putting more money and effort into these causes instead of creating public policies to help solve the poverty issues.

Some people have more money to spend than the others also due to the inequal distribution of wealth. Not only in Central America, but all around the world a huge amount of wealthness of a country is found in power of just a few people, usually the government, industries and large companies.
