As Representatives of the united States of America, in the Name and by Authority of the good People of the colonies, declaring freedom and independence, they propose and conclude that the States must have full Power, similar to any other independent States, to act as they deem right. So, in order to have the support needed, they added more convincing wording and proclaimed "a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence" (Trust God), and a promisse of "their lives, riches and honor to each other."
