Spain and France were two nations claiming portions of Texas in the 1600´s. Spain´s Crown of Castilla ruled over most of Texas since the early 1600´s, but for a few years by the end of that same century, a French nobleman founded a colony on the Texas Gulf Coast called Sain Louis.
