In a recent survey of 974 voters, 724 indicated that they were in favor of a new city park, while the other 250 voters said that they were opposed.

Using this survey as a basis, if 40,000 citizens vote next week, how many are likely to be opposed to the new park? Round to the nearest whole number.

10, 267

the fraction of voters opposed from the survey =
(250)/(974)

Assuming this fraction as a basis then the predicted number against will be

40, 000 ×
(250)/(974) = 10, 267 ( nearest while number )
