Foziah has wanted to run for the Senate since she became a US citizen seven years ago. She grew up in Beirut, Lebanon, and knows how important it is to have a government that works for the people. At 26, she believes she has some great ideas and a lot to offer her adopted country. However, Foziah learns she cannot run for the US Senate at this time.
Why can’t Foziah run for the US Senate?
Foziah’s state already has one female senator.
Foziah’s state does not allow anyone under 40 to run for office.
To become a senator, you need to have been born in the United States.
To become a senator, you need to be at least 30 and have been a US citizen for at least nine years.
