If A and B are independent, then
P(A\cap B)=P(A)\cdot P(B)

We have:

P(A)=(1)/(2),\ P(B)=(1)/(4)

Substitute:

P(A\cap B)=(1)/(2)\cdot(1)/(4)=(1)/(8)
