math help a food manufacturer specifies that every family size box of cereal should have a net weight of 25 oz with a tolerance of 1.2 Oz write and solve an inequality that describes the acceptable net weight for the cereal in a family size box

Answer:

23.8 oz ≤ x ≤ 26.2 oz

Explanation:

A box underweight by 1.2 oz. would be acceptable, as would a box overweight by 1.2 oz, or a box whose weight is between these two.

Thus, 25 oz - 1.2 oz ≤ x ≤ 25 oz + 1.2 oz, or

23.8 oz ≤ x ≤ 26.2 oz

Answer: If the net weight is 25 oz, and the tolerance is 1.2 oz, then the minimum weight is the net minus the tolerance, or 25 oz - 1.2 oz = 23.8 oz.

Similarly, the maximum weight will be the net plus the tolerance, or 25 oz + 1.2 oz = 26.2oz.

So the weight must be between 23,8 oz and 26.2 oz, and you can write this as : 23.8 oz < W < 26.2 oz. (where W is the weight of the box of cereal)
