At the local convenience store, bubble gum outsells non-bubble gum by a five-to-one ratio. If the store sold 276 pieces of gum today, how many of them were pieces of non-bubble gum?

46

sum the parts of the ratio 5 + 1 = 6

divide 276 by 6 to find 1 part of the ratio

(276)/(6) = 46 ← 1 part

the store sold 46 non-bubble gum

and 230 bubble gum
