he has currently $35, and got $200 from the bank, so then he has $235, cuz you combine his already in pocket money with the money he withdrew from the bank. Then, he bought the $34.00 trousers so 235-34 leaves him with $201. Since he bought 2 shirts for $16.00, multiply 2 and 16, which gets $32.00 in all for shirts, subtract; $201-$32, so do your subtraction math and you get $169. Lastly, his 2 pair of shoes are $24 a pair, so 2 multiplied with 24 is $48, he spent $48.00 in shoes, subtract; $169-$48=$121, so Mel had $121 at the end of the shopping day

$35 + $200 : $235

1- $34.00 (Trousers)
2- $16.00 x 2=$32.00 (shirts)
2- $24.00 x 2=$48.00 (shoes)

Money Mel had at the end of shopping day:
$235 -($34.00+$16.00+$48.00)
$235-$98
$137

Expression-
($35+$200) - [($16.00 x 2)+ ($24.00x2)+$34]
