the cost in dollars of a loaf of bread in a bakery is equal to 2 minus 0.25 times the number of days since it was baked. Is there a point at which the linear relationship between days and dollars no longer make sense?

We are given

Let's assume

number of days =x

the cost in dollars of a loaf of bread in a bakery =y

we have

the cost in dollars of a loaf of bread in a bakery is equal to 2 minus 0.25 times the number of days since it was baked

so, we get

y=2-0.25x

It will not make sense when cost is negative

so, we set y=0

and then we can solve for x

0=2-0.25x

We add both sides by 0.25x

0+0.25x=2-0.25x+0.25x

0.25x=2

Divide both sides by 0.25

and we get

x=8

So, after 8 days , the cost will become negative

which does not make sense

because cost can never be negative ............Answer
