Myra just finished a beautiful painting and would like to build a frame around it. If the diameter of the picture is 33 inches and the frame is 2 inches wide, what would be the circumference of the picture and frame?

116.24 inches
119.90 inches
219.90 inches

To find the circumference of a circle, just multiply the diameter by π, or 3.14.

Since we are including the frame in the diameter, the new diameter would be 37 inches.

37π ≈ 116.24

So, A) 116.24 is the correct answer!

Answer:

116.24 inches

Explanation:

The diameter of the painting which Myra painted has a diameter of 33 inches.

If the frame is 2 inches wide so the frame and the painting would have a diameter of 33 + 2 + 2 = 37 inches.

And so its radius will be 37/2 = 18.5 inches

We know the formula of circumference:

Circumference =
2\pi r

Putting the value of radius (frame + painting to get:

2\pi r = 2 x 22/7 x 18.5 = 116.24 inches
