A doctor ordered 300 ml of a 10% solution,but the pharmacy only has 5% and 25% solutions. How many millimeters of each solution should the pharmacist mix to get the prescribed medication for the man?

Explanation:

(300 * 0.1) = (0.05 * x) + (0.25 * (300 - x))

30 = 0.05x + 75 - 0.25x

-45 = -0.2x

x = 225.

So there would be...

225 milliliters of 5% solutions

and

75 milliliters of 25% solutions.
