Answer: There are 192 marbles in total.

Explanation:

B is the number of blue marbles, G the number of green marbles and Y the number of yellow marbles:

We know that:

B + G + Remainder = X

Where X is the total number of marbles.

Remainder/5 = Y

X/4 = B

X/8 = G

we have that Y = 24, with this we can find the amount of the remainder:

remainder = 5*Y = 5*24 = 120.

now, we have that:

B + G + 120 = X

here we can replace B and G by:

X/4 + X/8 + 120 = X

(3/8)*X - X = -120

(5/8)*X = 120

X = 120*(8/5) = 192
