A car leaves a gas station traveling at 60 mph. Another car leaves 6 minutes later

Traveling at 65 mph. At what point will the second car catch up to the first? How many miles will they have traveled?

78 miles

Explanation:

time taken - distance / speed

let distance be x

first car time taken = x/ 60

second car time taken = x/65 + (6/60)hrs .........as the car started 6min late

x/65 + (6/60) = x/ 60

x/65 +0.1 = x/60

x/65 - x/60 = -0.1

-x/780 = -0.1

x = -780 * -0.1

x = 78 miles
