The correct answer is answer D.

Asoka was an ancient ruler. Grandson of Chandragupta -the founder of the Mauryan dynasty- and son of Bindusara, Asoka was named king in 268 B.C.

The significance of the Stupas and monasteries built by Asoka helped spread Buddhism through the territory. He buit those buildings to propagate Buddhism, sculpting teachings and stories in the walls and columns of the antique buildings.

The Stupa is considered a tomb monument -a mound of dirt- used as a burial place or to keep religious artifacts.
