'New World' was the general term that was used to describe the newly discovered Americas during the European Age of Exploration.

Step-by-step explanation:

The discovery of the Americas initially was looked at as the discovery of a new world that was now possible to be explored and acquire. Because the Europeans were the first to find this land lying further west across the Atlantic Ocean, they claimed it to be theirs and began calling it 'New World'.

The general term used to depict the newly found Americas during the European Age of Discovery (Since the 15th century until the 18th century) was The New World , because before the discoveries the people of that antique era used to believe that the world was only compound by Europe, Asia and Africa, but then when were discovered the Americas, they named Europe, Asia and Africa as The Old World and the Americas and it's caribbean islands as The New World.
