Portugal was the first European country which was allowed to set up trading Post and continue trading with Japan.
In the history of Japan, Portuguese people were the first to arrive there and were granted permission to setup a trading system which is famously known as Nanban trade.
Initially, Nagasaki was chosen as the port for trade between Portugal and Japan and the items they traded mainly comprised of Chinese goods including silk and porcelain which helped them increase their trade in the next years to follow.
