In Song of Salomon a bride and a groom compare each other to all kinds of animals, plants and architecture.

There are metaphors:

  • Tongue is honey, nectar underneath. (for the bride)
  • Navel is a rounded bowl with mixed wine (for the bride)
  • Arms like rods of gold set with jewels ( for the groom)
  • Head like doves beside streams of water, bathed in milk ( for the groom)

There are also similes:

  • Hair like flock of goats (for the bride)
  • Lips like scarlet thread ( for the bride)
  • Like a young stag (for the groom)
  • Cheeks like beds of spices, herbs ( for the groom)
