The library at school is organized by fiction and nonfiction books there are three nonfiction books for every 7 fiction books how many total books are there if the library has 240 non-fiction books

one of the easiest things to do is point it in fraction and ratio form, which would put 3 over 7 and 240 over x. then you cross multiply and then divide. this would tell you how many fiction books there are. and then you just add. hope that makes sense!

The ratio is 3:7
If there is 3 non fiction for every fiction and there are 240 fiction 240/3=80
So you multiply 80*7=560 so there are 240 non fiction and 560 fiction
240:560
