Final answer:

Divide the total number of pages (38) by the number of students (4) to get 9.5 pages per student. They will read 9 full pages each, with 2 pages not distributed evenly among them.

Step-by-step explanation:

The question involves determining how many pages each of the 4 fifth graders will read from a book with a total of 38 pages, assuming that the pages are divided evenly among them. To find the answer, divide the total number of pages by the number of students. 38 pages divided by 4 students equals 9.5 pages per student. Since they cannot read half of a page, if they read full pages, we will have to either round down to 9 pages per student with 2 pages left over or find another arrangement. Hence, each student will read 9 full pages with perhaps some collaborative solution for the remaining pages.

Answer: 9.5

do 38 รท 4 and you would get 9.5 which is 9 and a half pages
you do that because 4 doesn't have a multiple of 38 so you would find the GCF which is the greatest common factor and that is 9 which would equal to 36 because 9*4=36 so you would have a remainder of 2 pages so divide that by four and get a half of page
