Move vertex (0,0) of y = x^2 four units to the left and eight units down.

Explanation:

Starting with the base function y = x^2, whose graph is that of a parabola with vertex at (0,0), we move this whole graph (incl. the vertex) 4 units to the left and 8 units down.
