Carbohydrates:

Carbohydrates is any of a large group of organic compounds occurring in foods and living tissues and including sugars, starch, and cellulose. They contain hydrogen and oxygen in the same ratio as water (2:1) and typically can be broken down to release energy in the animal body. Carbohydrates provide energy because carbohydrates can be broken down into two types:

Simple carbohydrates are absorbed and converted very quickly, providing a rapid source of energy.

Complex carbohydrates take longer to be digested, absorbed, and metabolized. Thus, they provide energy at a slower rate and are often stored as glycogen.

Nucleic acids:

Nucleic acid is a complex organic substance present in living cells, especially DNA or RNA, whose molecules consist of many nucleotides linked in a long chain.

The two main types of nucleic acids are deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and ribonucleic acid (RNA). DNA is the genetic material found in all living organisms, ranging from single-celled bacteria to multicellular mammals. It is found in the nucleus of eukaryotes and in the chloroplasts and mitochondria.
