first, you have to find the area of the square, which is 64.

Then, you can find the area of the circle. The formula is pi time radius squared. The radius is 8 divided by two, which is 4. THe area of the circle is 16 times pi.

To find the area of the shaded area, you have to subtract the area of the crcle from the area of the square. THe answer is 64-16pi.

hope that helped

You would find the area of the circle and subtract it from the area of the object it is in, in this case the square. So the area of the square is 8*8=64

Area of the circle is πr^2

The radius would be half the distance of the line, so half of 8 is 4 and 4^2=16

so the equation for the circle is 16π

Subtracting the area of the circle from the square leaves us with only the shaded area and the equation 64-16π
