Answer:

To add fractions they have to have the same denominator.

7/20 is fine as it is but we neen to chnge 4/5 into 20ths.

4/5 = 16/20 So,

16/20 + 7/20 = 23/20 which can be changed to

1 and 3/20

Okay so 5 multiplied by 4 gets you 20. So we already have 7/20ths. So 4/5ths is 16/20ths. Think that 4 + 4 + 4 + 4 + 4 = 20. So taking only 4/5 of those 4's from that equation is 16. Which is how you get 16/20th which in a simplified form is 4/5ths. But now we have the same term in out of 20ths. Now we have 16/20th + 7/20ths. Take the 16 and 7 and add them together. 16 + 7 = 23. So now we have 23/20ths. But that's an improper fraction so we have to change it in to a mixed number. We know that 20/20ths is equal to 1. Now we have 1 and 3/20ths. We can't simplify that anymore because 3 is not a factor of 20. So our final answer is 1 and 3/20ths.
