Use the sine rule since we have an unknown opposite side (x) and a known hypotenuse (20). The sine function is the ratio of the opposite over the hypotenuse.

sin(angle) = opposite/hypotenuse

sin(35) = x/20

20*sin(35) = (x/20)*20 .... multiply both sides by 20

20*sin(35) = x

x = 20*sin(35)

x = 11.4715

x = 11.5
