Darryl received a special offer from the local grocery store on gourmet pickle buckets. The size of a pickle bucket is 640 ounces, and for Downtown Deli, the price is only $32. Explain how Darryl would decide if this is a better buy than purchasing Brand D pickles at $0.20 per ounce. Should Darryl accept this price?

Answer:

You would find the unit price for the pickle bucket and compare that to the unit price of Brand D. The unit price for the bucket is $0.05, which is less than Brand D’s unit price, so he should accept the deal.

We are given

For Downtown Deli:

The size of a pickle bucket is 640 ounces

so, total ounces =640

the price is only $32

so, total price =32

now, we can find price for each ounces

Price for each ounce = (total price)/(total ounces)

Price for each ounce is

=(32)/(640)

=0.05 $ / ounce

and we are given

The purchasing Brand D pickles at $0.20 per ounce

So, local grocery rate is cheaper

so, Darryl should accept special offer from the local grocery store on gourmet pickle buckets........Answer
