For this case we have that the distance between two points is given by:

d = √((y2-y1)^2+(x2-x1)^2)

Given the points:

(x1, y1) = (1, -4)(x2, y2) = (1,0)

We substitute in the formula:

d = √((0 - (- 4)) ^ 2 + (1-1) ^ 2)

d = √((4 ^ 2 + 0 ^ 2))

d=√(16)

d = 4

So, the distance is
d = 4

Answer:

d = 4
