The type climate in the Coastal area of the Black Sea in Georgia is subtropical. It is characterized by abundant rainfall throughout the whole year but with its peaks in autunm and spring. Temperatures are generally warm and pleasant in the area. There are warm winters, where average temperatures can decrease to 5ºC, while in summer they reach around 22ºC, so there is not a big oscilation at all. The climate only becames a bit cooler in the mountain regions.
This sharply contrasts with the situation of the plain region on the East, with the extremely cold winters and hot summers and the large daily and annual oscilations of temperatures. The Caucasus Mountains, located in the North, protect the coastal area from truly extreme continental weather and the proximity of the sea softens temperatures even to a greater extent.
