Sara has a recipe for a cake that her mother gave her. The recipe calls for 3/4 cups of sugar for each cake. Sara and her friend Cindy are making 3 cakes instead of one. Sara is telling Cindy that they will need 9 cups of sugar. Explain in words on your paper why Sara is right or wrong using a convincing arguement. To make 3 cakes how much sugar will they need?

ANSWER

Sara is wrong that she need 9 cups of sugar for making the 3 cakes.

Reason

As given

Sara has a recipe for a cake

recipe calls for 3/4 cups of sugar for each cake i.e

one\ cake\ require\ (3)/(4)\ cups\ of\ sugar.

now we calculated for the 3 cake.

three\ cake\ require\ sugar\ = 3*(3)/(4)

we get

i.e\ 3cake\ require\ (9)/(4)cups\ of\ sugar.

Therefore Sara assumption is wrong

Hence proved
