$2x-1\leq-5\qquad|+1\\\\2x\leq-4\qquad|:2\\\\x\leq-2$

--------------------------------------------------------------------

$2x+5 > 17\qquad|-5\\\\2x > 12\qquad|:2\\\\x > 6$

$Answer:\ x\leq-2\ or\ x > 6$
