The price of a cup of coffee was $2.60 yesterday. Today, the price fell to $2.45 .

Decrease in price = actual price - price decreased

Decrease in price = 2.60 - 2.45= 0.15

amount decreased = $0.15

Now we find percentage of decreased

Percentage of decrease = Decreased amount divide by original price

decrease percentage =
(0.15)/(2.60)= 0.057692307

To get percentage we multiply by 100

0.057692307 * 100 = 5.8 %

the percentage decrease= 5.8%
