In a hydraulic jack, the pipe below the load has an area of 5 m2, and the pipe through which the input force transmits has an area of 0.1 m2. If the input force is 200 N, what is the output force in kN?

B. 20 kN
C. 15 kN

As per Pascal's law

Pressure must be equally transmitted to all points of fluids

So here we can say

P_(in) = P_(out)

As we know that pressure is the ratio of force and area so we can say

(F_(in))/(A_(in)) = (F_(out))/(A_(out))

Given that

F_(in) = 200 N

A_(in) = 0.1 m^2

A_(out) = 5 m^2

(200)/(0.1) = (F_(out))/(5)

F_(out) = 5 * 2000 = 10000

so output force will be 10 kN

so A option is correct
