There are two types of flowers are given: Potted pansies and Marigolds.

Number of Potted pansies flowers sold = 48.

Number of Marigolds flowers = 96.

Total number of flowers sold = Number of Potted pansies flowers sold+Number of Marigolds flowers = 48+96 = 144 flowers.

Fraction of the marigolds flowers sold to the total flowers sold =
(96)/(144).

Reducing it into simplest fraction by dividing top and bottom by 48, we get

(2)/(3).

Therefore,
(2)/(3)rd of the flowers sold were marigolds.
