The Two Treatises of Government is a work of political philosophy, written by John Locke, which states that an individual´s rights in government can be grounded in private property. His political philosophy does not suggest the elimination of laissez-faire capitalism. In a laissez-faire capitalist state, the individual´s rights are protected inasmuch as the government protects private property. The elimination of laissez-faire capitalism would result from protecting the public´s rights to acquiring property, something which Locke is explicitly against.
