I spent $240 at the bookstore buying a book and calculator the textbook cost twice as much as the calculator. How much was the calculator

The calculator is $80.

Explanation:

The calculator is half as much as the textbook. 80+ 80 is 160. 160 + 80 is 240. Thats the answer. But a calculator?!?! 80 dollars?!?!? P.S. thats a very expensive textbook.

240/3 = 80, so the calculator would be $80
