(x, y) → (3, y) → x = 3

Put the value of x to the equation:

5(3) - 3y = 18

15 - 3y = 18 subtract 15 from both sides

-3y = 3 divide both sides by (-3)

y = -1

Answer: y = -1

5x - 3y = 18

x=3

5 * 3 - 3y = 18

Do the multiplication

15 - 3y = 18

Put in the other side

- 3y = 18 - 15

Subtract

- 3y = 3

Put into fraction

y = (3)/( - 3)

Divide.

\boxed {y = - 1}

Solution: (3, -1)
