Answer:

86 pounds

Explanation:

we have to make equations using the given information. then solve for our question.

Let,

Jina used x pounds of type B coffee.

Since, total used coffee is of 144 pounds.

So, type A coffee is of (144-x) pounds.

Now,

type A costs 5.55 per pound.

So, for (144-x) pounds

total cost for type A=5.55 (144-x)

And type B costs 4.40 per pound.

So, for x pounds

total cost for type B= 4.40 x

Since, total cost was 700.30

So, we get

5.55(144-x)+ 4.40x=700.30

or, 799.2- 5.55x+4.40x=700.30

or, 799.2 - 1.15x =700.30

or, -1.15 x=700.30-799.2

or, -1.15 x=-98.9

or, x=
(-98.9)/(-1.15)

=86

So,

86 pounds of type B coffee was used
