Given

An opera house has two kinds of seats, orchestra and mezzanine.

The total amount the opera house made in ticket sales for a show last Saturday was $137,000.

sold a total of 1,100 mezzanine tickets at $70 a ticket and sold 500 orchestra tickets.

If t represents the cost of an orchestra ticket.

Find the equation representing this situation and complete the statement that follows.

and complete the equation , t = The opera house sold 500 orchestra tickets at $ per ticket.

To proof

As given in the question

total amount the opera house made in ticket sales for a show last Saturday = $137,000.

total of 1,100 mezzanine tickets at $70 a ticket and sold 500 orchestra tickets.

t represents the cost of an orchestra ticket.

Than the equation becomes in the form

1100 × 70 + 500 t = 137000

77000 + 500 t = 137000

500t = 137000 - 77000

500t = 60000

t = (60000)/(500)

t = $120

$120 = The opera house sold 500 orchestra tickets at $ per ticket.

Hence proved
