Hello!

To find the midpoint of the line segment, use the formula:
((x_(1)+x_(2))/(2), (y_(1)+y_(2))/(2)). In simpler terms, we are finding the average of the two points.

We can assign
x_(1) and
y_(1) to the point (5, 8), and (-1, 6) to
x_(2) and
y_(2).

((5+(-1))/(2), (8+6)/(2)) = ((4)/(2), (14)/(2)) = (2, 7)

Therefore, the coordinates of the midpoint of the line segment is (2, 7).
