(2x) + (3x)

is (which means equals to basically)

" triple the quantity of five more than a number"

3(x+5)

We connect all of this to find the number and get:

(2x) + (3x) = 3(x+5)

5x = 3x + 15

5x -3x = 15

2x = 15

x = 15/2

x = 7.5
