Abu Abdullah Muhammad, also known as Ibn Battuta was a Muslim scholar and traveler of Moroccan origin who undertook a series of travels and excursions during his life which are now a days called the Rihla (The Travels). Unlike the influence the travels of other explorers, such as Marco Polo had, Battuta's travels only had a very modest impact on the world until the 19th century. Despite not providing much influence to other explorers, Battuta's accounts of his travels provide a gateway to the civilizations of the muslim world during the age.
