A bullet is fired horizontally with an initial speed of 208 m/s at a height of 1.98m above the ground. How long will it take the bullet to hit the ground?

We have equation of motion ,
s= ut+(1)/(2) at^2, s is the displacement, u is the initial velocity, a is the acceleration and t is the time.

Here we need to consider only vertical motion of bullet.

9.8m/s^2, we need to find time taken

Substituting


1.98= 0*t+(1)/(2) *9.8*t^2\\ \\ 4.9t^2=1.98\\ \\ t^2=0.404\\ \\ t=0.64 seconds
