There's seven-eighths of a gallon of chocolate ice cream in the freezer. There's also two-thirds of a gallon of vanilla ice cream.

(7)/(8) gallons of chocolate ice-cream

(2)/(3) gallons of vanilla ice-cream

To find how much more chocolate ice cream is there than vanilla

We subtract vanilla from chocolate

(7)/(8) -(2)/(3)

To subtract fractions we make the denominators same

least common denominator is 24

(7*3)/(8*3) -(2*8)/(3*8)

(21)/(24) -(16)/(24)

(5)/(24)

(5)/(24) of a gallon
