x = y^2 + 4y + 3

Explanation:

f(x) = ( x + 2 )^2 - 1

y = ( x + 2 ) ^ 2 - 1

y = ( x^2 + 4x + 4 ) - 1

y = x^2 + 4x + 4 - 1

y = x^2 + 4x + 3

x = y^2 + 4y + 3

(switch from y to x and x to y)
