The whole number portion will be the number of times the denominator of the original fraction divides evenly into the numerator of the original fraction, and the fraction portion of the mixed number will be the remainder of the original fraction division over the denominator of the original fraction.

a. 3 2/3

b. 3 3/8

c. 5

d. 4 1/5

So for example 11/3 is 3 2/3 because you divide 11 by 3 and how you do it is that 3 goes into 11 3 times so you would write three on top of the 11 and then subtract 11-9 which is 2 so it is 3 2/3
