Think about your community and its helpers: the mailperson, the librarian, the firefighter, and the police officer. You can also pick an American or local hero. Pick one of them and write a half-page description of him or her using the vocabulary and grammar structures.

1. Choose a community helper or a personal hero.
Example: She is my mother. = Ella es mi mamá.

2. Describe his or her occupation.
Example: She is a hairdresser. = Ella es peluquera.

3. Describe his or her personality.
Example: She is funny. She is intelligent. = Ella es divertida. Ella es inteligente.

4. Describe his or her likes and dislikes.
Example: She likes to dance. She doesn't like to sing. = Le gusta bailar. No le gusta cantar.

You must use different examples than the ones noted above. Remember to add an opinion.

Community helper I chose: my teacher

Mi maestra, (insert her name) es un gran ejemplo de un ayudante de la comunidad. Ella ensena a muchos ninos lecciones muy importantes. Ella es muy simpatica, comica, y inteligente. Le gusta ver a los estudiantes sacar buenas notas. No le gusta ver a los estudientes sacar malas notas. Creo que ella es una gran maestra y es muy buena en su trabaja.

In english, this says: My teacher (insert her name) is a great example of a community helper. She teaches students very important lessons. She is very nice, funny, and smart. She likes to see students get good grades. She does not like to see students get bad grades. I think she is a great teacher and is very good at her job.

If you use this example and the teacher you are talking about is male, make sure you change the words to have a male ending and not a female ending.
