Answer:

Land is cleared to make room for the farm areas. As lands are cleared we lose biodiversity, as well as plants, insects, and animals that have to be relocated because of this. As trees are being cleared, less carbon dioxide (CO2) is being removed, since trees remove carbon dioxide from the air.
