Start by distributing:

4v^2 + 16v - 2v - 8

4v^2 + 14v - 8 = -8 - 3v

4v^2 + 14v = 3v

4v^2 + 11v + 0 = 0 (Standard form)

If you are looking for the actual roots:

(-b+-sqrt(b^2-4ac))/2a (Quadratic equation)

where a = 4, b = 11, and c = 0
